I am a proud father of 3 wonderful children who I love more than anything in this world. As a Black single dad it is not easy and challenging to find a network of other single dads to reach too which is one of the reasons why I created this blog.
There are many trials, struggles and triumphs that come along with raising daughters and sons as a Black man in this society today with the lack of a positive father figure portrayed in the media nowadays. I have had my fair share of relationships and have learned that regardless if you are single you must still be a constant positive driving force in your child’s life.
In my career journey I have been a technical advisor, network engineer and IT Manager I have found myself always wanting to help others not just my children reach their goals in life. Being raised in an under served community myself I know firsthand how challenging it was to find after-school programs that catered to my interest in technology. In the past 20 years I have spoken at many Baltimore City, Baltimore County middle and high schools to kids at career days about my past experiences and the excitement of being in a STEM field. I also held several board positions at non-profit organizations in leadership roles and Pre-College Initiative roles as well. But the most exciting experiences while being a mentor to the youth is judging Science Fairs. I have judged about 6 so far and the most memorable was at the Baltimore Science Fair held every year at Morgan State University. There were so many creative and well thought of projects that those middle schoolers put together it was amazing.
